What is cancer?

Cancer is generally referred to as an uncontrolled and mostly malignant regeneration of tissues that can affect any organ in our body. Various factors such as age, gender or dietary habits significantly influence the frequency and likelihood of cancer in the course of our lives.

However, general statements about life expectancy and chances of recovery after diagnosis Cancer are usually very difficult to make, as cancer manifests itself in a wide variety of manifestations and diseases.

The importance of tailor-made therapy, which can be individually adapted to the patient, thus becomes apparent. State-of-the-art medical and cell biological research is necessary to enable the development of optimized and highly effective new therapeutic measures.

Testimonials from Patients

. . . “followed by shock, anxiety and the fall into the bottomless pit”

After the realization of my cancer, my thoughts revolved between discouragement, self-abandonment, death, life with cancer and the feeling of a willingness to fight. In my case, however, I was very fortunate to receive the best possible treatment in the Salzburg State Hospitals (University Clinic for Internal Medicine III, Oncological Center) an individually optimized treatment of various examinations, tumor removal by means of two-fold surgery, subsequent chemotherapy, radiation, further antibody and hormone therapy as well as a rehabilitation stay. Cancer was a very big incision/turning point in my life. Illness and therapies changed me physically and mentally. My environment was not spared the effects of this disease either. Despite all the limitations, my despair and fear gave way to hope and the courage to maintain my quality of life and the feeling of being a full-fledged person (woman) again. Throughout the course of my illness so far, I have been able to maintain my inner strength, my calm and patient nature, my perseverance and especially important for me: “my laughter” (who knows me knows that I like to laugh very much).

My personal thanks go especially to the loving, caring and family support, care and support of the entire medical and nursing team of Univ. Department of Internal Medicine III. Without their tireless and humane commitment and due to the optimal specific medication, I would not be tumor-free today after one and a half years and on the best way to complete recovery. ”

123 I don't let myself be defeated, I'm positive. It is not always easy to live with such a disease and to be in good spirits, but thanks to the nice care of the doctors and the constantly encouraging study nurses,

who also take great care of my well-being, I leave this department every time in good spirits, come back days later and feel in good hands. Thanks to all involved!
